A winter storm lifted and cracked a large section of shingles on this Maple Ridge home, exposing the underlayment to weeks of coastal rain before we were called in. What started as a repair turned into a full tear-off once we saw the extent of the water damage underneath.
We stripped the roof down to bare decking, replaced the sections of sheathing that had absorbed water and gone soft, and let the deck fully dry before closing it back up. Fresh synthetic underlayment went down across the whole roof, with extra ice-and-water shield at the areas that had taken the worst of the storm damage.
Jobs like this are why we always recommend a full inspection after any major wind event, even if the damage looks minor from the ground — what you can see is rarely the full extent of it.
